Bulawayo – Malawi President Joyce Banda will on Friday officially open the country’s premier trade show case, the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair on Friday.
Banda took over the country following the death of Bingu wa Mutharika last April.
Malawi has 11 companies exhibiting at the fair drawn mainly from agriculture, timber, textile, food processing and manufacturing.
A stand official, George Midiani, told the ZITF daily bulletin that Malawi is hoping to generate more contacts and get business orders.
He said Malawi’s aim is to narrow the trade balance which is currently in favour of Zimbabwe.
He said the fact that Malawi’s president will officially open ZITF will help market Malawi to Zimbabweans and the rest of the world.
