Zimbabwe’s business mogul, Strive Masiyiwa says Africa is the world’s greatest opportunity.
Speaking to a Carbon War Room meeting, Masiyiwa says out of 10 fastest growing countries last year, six were from Africa.
Carbon War Room harnesses the power of entrepreneurs to unock market driven solutions to climate change.
Masiyiwa who owns Econet Wireless says the six African countries all had a 7 percent or above growth.
He says Africa now had fewer than 10 African countries that do not hold regular lections and security had improved.
However poverty, inequity as well as education and environment issues remain areas of concern. Thirty million children in the continent are not getting primary education.
Masiyiwa also says 58.1 percent of Zimbabweans now had mobile phone internet access.
His mobile company has developed solar lanterns to charge mobie phones. More than 40 000 solar lanterns had been distributed in Zimbabwe alone, meaning people no longer use kerosene chargers.
It runs a solar charging station providing chargers for the phone, light and other power sources, helping to transform ives of rural people.
Another initiative, Green Kiosk, champions empowerment creation while another, the Energise the Chain Scheme donates hitech vaccine refrigeration units to rural hospitals.
